Wild Hearts & Whiskey: Mac & Jace’s Barefoot Elopement at Wet Beaver Creek, Sedona

When it comes to elopements in Sedona, nothing says “authentically you” like hiking barefoot into the wild with your dogs, a bottle of homemade whiskey, and a heart full of intention. Mac and Jace’s elopement at Wet Beaver Creek was one of those rare days where everything felt perfectly unfiltered, raw, and real. It felt perfectly them..

A One-Mile Journey into the Wild

Their day began with a short but scenic 1-mile hike into Wet Beaver Creek, a lesser-known gem nestled in the red rock canyons of Sedona, Arizona. As the warm sun filtered through the trees and the sound of the creek grew louder, Jace carried their puppy on his shoulders — an image that will live rent-free in my photographer heart forever. (I have so many puppy photos from their day and I am OBSESSED)

There were no crowds. No stress. Just two people, their best friends, and their pups – heading into the wilderness to say “I do” in a way that felt just right.

Barefoot Vows & Creekside Whiskey

Once we arrived at the creek, Mac and Jace kicked off their shoes and grounded themselves — literally — in the earth beneath them. They stood barefoot on smooth stones, surrounded by the gentle flow of water and the watchful eyes of their two dogs, who were clearly just as invested in this ceremony as anyone else. (also, the got bolo ties for their fur babies. I mean, how freakin cute is that??)

Mac’s grandma had made a bottle of homemade whiskey for them to share, and they tucked it into the cool waters of the creek to chill during their vows. That moment — whiskey cooling in the river, sunlight dancing across the ripples, dogs wading in and out — it was magic.

With a bouquet of hand-picked wildflowers, and not a single soul in sight, they exchanged their vows in the most intimate, down-to-earth Sedona elopement I’ve ever had the honor of capturing. To top it off, Mac is a tattoo artist and tattooed “I love you” on her ring finger the night before their ceremony. So special.

After their ceremony, the two of them shared a toast with grandma’s whiskey and took time to explore the creekside trails with their dogs. They laughed, danced, splashed each other, and fully embraced the freedom that comes with eloping your own way.

As the sun dipped low, they ended the day by jumping into the creek together, completely carefree and soaked in joy. It was playful. It was romantic. It was 100% them.
